On the occasion of June 5 - World Environment Day and the City celebration in the City Hall of Nis under patronage of Mayor of City of Nis and Palilula Municipality, it is opened the seventh International Festival of Ecological and Archaeological Film "Ekopolis Fest 2010“. This unique film event, which has already become a tradition, has opened one of the founders of environmental movement in City of Nis and the region, Prof. dr Radivoje Mancic, president of the Institute for Studies „Ekoman“. He remained on the development of environmental thought and education for sustainable development in Nis and initiatives that have had impact in the region, especially in the protection of natural resources, and Sićevačka and Jelasnicka gorges, canyons of rivers Temštica and Stara Planina. On the opening night the audience saw the documentary film „Etruscan warriors“ Allen Badea from Italy, then film „Elefterna-Search for a lost reality“, from Greece and the „Valley of the Golden Helmet“ by Nele Tot and Sasa Ljubojevića from Serbia . Environmental program continued by series: „My city EKOpolis“, „ECO Caravan-Clean Up Serbia“ and selection of environmental television spots that are used in the promotion of environmental campaigns especially „Clean Up Serbia“, „Clean Up the World“.
This year Festival will be held with support of the Student Cultural Centre of Nis, the National Museum in Belgrade, Pantalej Municipality, Public Utility Enterprise "City Distant Heating Plant", Public Utility Enterprise "Naisus", “Dunav osiguranje”-Branch Nis, Institute “Ekoman”.

From Monday June 7th to Friday, June 11, Festival continues screening films “The fate of giants” (the story of Easter Island in Chile and mysterious statuette carved in stone in supernatural size), and French achievement “Seutes immortal, secrets of the Thracian king”. On Tuesday, June 8 on the program is remarkably  achievement of Florence Tran from France, “Disclosure of Keops”and “Mohendzo Daro - Secret Indus culture” from  Germany as well as film “Curug-old archaeological site Vineyards” by Jelica Bojić from Serbia. By the end of the festival of ecological and archaeological film on program are “Ind cultural treasure”, “Mystery of Plocnik”, “Ghost of magdalenijenska`s Art” “Necropolis banditaca” “Escape from Vavilion” , “Slept in time”, “Non-technical Biogenerator”- “Barriers cluster for recycling – south” “Clean Up Serbia-Clean Up world”, “Temštica” “Eco intermezzo” series “Power of Nature”, “Ekopolis”.

Dragan Vidojkovic, artistic Director of Festival emphasized that this year's 7.EKOPOLISfestu in Nis, is shown 29 films, 14 environmental and 15 archaeological from 6 countries - Belgium (1), Italy (3), Germany (3), Serbia (4), France (3), Greece (1). Selected films were characterized by high scientific quality and attractive approach to cultural heritage, and they have attracted interest not only specialists but also of the audience attracted by an old civilization, protected natural resources, important and valuable monuments of culture and nature. According to contents it were mostly news and stories as well as educational films that represents important discoveries, remarkable achievements of the past from different periods of civilization, said Vidojković.

The audience will, of course, in an attractive and interesting way  be informed about the latest archaeological research and environmental campaigns and activities in our country and the world. In particular, it refers to the global environmental campaign, “Clean up the world” promoted by EKOpolis network and the national campaign “Clean Up Serbia-Big cleaning of Serbia”, which was implemented last weekend.

Organizer of "EKOPOLISfest" is a media network EKOPOLIS which is a regular promoter of this unique festival since 2003. when, in collaboration with the Italian Institute of Culture, Goethe Institute, French Cultural Centre in Belgrade, the National Museum, the Institute for Nature Protection, Tourism Organization, the Youth House, was first organized environmental and archeological screening films. Festival do not have competitive character and from the very beginning was planed as review the latest achievements of the documentary film. The City of Nis is one of the few cities in the region whose cultural public has the opportunity to meet through this event with the latest films in the field of ecology and sustainable development, archeology, tourism and related scientific disciplines.
